We present an antenna shower formalism that includes helicity dependence for massless partons. The formalism applies to both traditional (global) showers and sector-based variants. We combine the shower with VINCIA's multiplicative approach to matrix-element matching, generalized to operate on each helicity configuration separately. The result is a substantial gain in computational speed for high parton multi-plicities. We present an implementation of both sector and global showers, with min/max variations, and helicity-dependent tree-level matching applied through n 4 for V=H ! q " q þ n partons and through n 5 for H ! n gluons.

A simple shower and matching algorithm

We present a simple formalism for parton-shower Markov chains. As a first step towards more complete ‘uncertainty bands’, we incorporate a comprehensive exploration of the ambiguities inherent in such calculations. To reduce this uncertainty, we then introduce a matching formalism which allows a generated event sample to simultaneously reproduce any infrared safe distribution calculated at lead...

VINCIA for hadron colliders

We present the first public implementation of antenna-based QCD initial- and final-state showers. The shower kernels are [Formula: see text] antenna functions, which capture not only the collinear dynamics but also the leading soft (coherent) singularities of QCD matrix elements. We define the evolution measure to be inversely proportional to the leading poles, hence gluon emissions are evolved...

Polarized Antenna Splitting Functions

We consider parton showers based on radiation from QCD dipoles or ‘antennae’. These showers are built from 2→ 3 parton splitting processes. The question then arises of what functions replace the Altarelli-Parisi splitting functions in this approach. We give a detailed answer to this question, applicable to antenna showers in which partons carry definite helicity, and to both initialand final-st...

Helicity-selective phase-matching and quasi-phase matching of circularly polarized high-order harmonics: towards chiral attosecond pulses

Phase matching of circularly polarized high-order harmonics driven by counter-rotating bichromatic lasers was recently predicted theoretically and demonstrated experimentally. In that work, phase matching was analyzed by assuming that the total energy, spin angular momentum and linear momentum of the photons participating in the process are conserved. Here we propose a new perspective on phase ...

Distance Dependent Localization Approach in Oil Reservoir History Matching: A Comparative Study

To perform any economic management of a petroleum reservoir in real time, a predictable and/or updateable model of reservoir along with uncertainty estimation ability is required. One relatively recent method is a sequential Monte Carlo implementation of the Kalman filter: the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF). The EnKF not only estimate uncertain parameters but also provide a recursive estimat...
